This was a simple touch up follow up I did for one of our great clients we cleaned windows and gutters for at the end of the second week in November 2013 on Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, MN. Great customer service is definitely something you can expect and depend on from Wind O’ Washin’. Our aim is to deliver 5 star plus service in every window cleaning job we do guaranteed! Check out our many 5 star reviews online at Yelp.com or Thumbtack.com and read our story if you like how this service got started in the Summer of 2011 with only a few bucks, a bicycle, very basic tools and a dream to be the best window cleaning service in the Twin Cities metro area and beyond. www.windowashin.com
Hi, My name is Steven. I started a window cleaning business from broke, and now have a growing and thriving business with a straight 5 star rating to boot. I was working as a factory worker in the Winter of 2010 for Phillips lighting at their WideLite plant in San Marcos, TX. I was working through a staffing agency called Addeco. My pay was $8.10 per hour, and the work was very tedious. I started working for them just before Christmas, and was sent home for a 2 week Christmas break with a pay check of only $176.00. Somehow I made it through the very meager vacation, very hungry and then started to work again in this same assembly factory. After only a couple of months of steady work, many of us were laid off again without explanation other than they simply did not have any more work for us at that time. I was very frustrated and wanted to do something in my life that would make my financial situation much more stable. I thought of the name Wind O’ Washin’ since my friend from church introduced me to the trade of window cleaning, and my heritage happens to be full Irish. Wind O’ Washin’ is easy to communicate to people, and I thought for sure this would blossom into a well known name over time. I had a local printer in San Marcos, TX print me some simple black and white business cards to go door-to-door with and I spent my only $100.00 at that time on some basic window cleaning tools from Lowes home building supply store in San Marcos, TX. I went door-to-door for about 2 hours with my new cards, tools and Scotch tape riding my bicycle and pulling a Burley Nomad cargo trailer. I had been riding my bicycle only and not owning an automobile for about 3 years at this time. After two hours of door knocking I had not found a cleaning job, so I decided to call it a day for that activity and head back home. My sister had asked me if I wanted her to help me move to her place in NW Arkansas, and I said yes. My sister picked me up on April 1st, 2011 in her Tahoe pulling a rented U-haul trailer. We put all my stuff in that trailer and took turns driving back to Rogers, AR. I had not received a single phone call for window cleaning up untill that time and was really wondering why not! After arriving in Rogers, AR and spending a few days getting aclimated to the new area, I decided to take a cycling tour that I had been wanting to take for quite some time. I had been thinking about cycle touring for over a year at this time, and now seemed to be the perfect time. I had searched Google for the best cities to live in in the United States, and the top city that came up was Eden Prairie, MN. I headed that way, but I wanted to visit some people in Indiana on the way, so I headed toward Indiana first. My first days on the road were a little intimidating, but soon I realized that my needs were being met in a timely fashion some how, and it was not as challenging as I thought it might be. I had forgotten that I put $200 in a savings account and had a little money to start my trip with without being broke. Many miracles took place on that trip. I spent 5 weeks in the Indianapolis area before continuing on to Eden Prairie. Eden Prairie was not what I was expecting for a place to call home, and I soon moved to South Minneapolis to stay at a church I had found on IC.org. From the front porch of this church house I started the business now called Wind O’ Washin’ (www.windowashin.com). I had found a 4 gallon bucket with a snap-on lid in the trash behind the church house, and used that to carry hot water in in my bicycle trailer to use for window cleaning store fronts I found out riding my bicycle. All of my tools fit in the trailer at this time, and I velcro strapped my 16 foot extension pole to the top frame tube of my ten speed bicycle. This worked very well to be honest, and the very first day out looking for work I cleaned a flower shop store front ‘s windows and was invited to clean the windows at the flower shop owner’s home in Brooklyn Center, MN. I did not know what the going rates were to charge people for cleaning their windows, so I just shot out prices I thought people….(for the rest go to: http://http://brickthreads.empowernetwork.com/
